Anonymous asked: I'm happy about Henry not being able to remember... kind of quick how Emma remember? Some of those lines that Hook said were the exact same words Henry said to Emma in the pilot. I have to say Henry seemed a lot more intelligent and wise. Not that he wasn't before he just had that extra edge.
Exactly! OUaT has a knack for absolutely fantastic parallels. It’s fun to notice the bigger and smaller ones they hide in episodes. Henry not remembering definitely mirrored Emma’s not knowing in the first season. Here’s another great example:
Henry (Pilot): Use your superpower. See if I’m lying.
Hook (NYCS): Try using your superpower. Use it. See that I’m telling the truth.
Which leads (in both circumstances) to Emma saying, “Just because you believe something doesn’t make it true.”
There’s also Emma walking in for a date with Walsh that parallels her walking in for a date with that random guy in the pilot. Emma walking into her apartment from the date afterwards, etc etc.
As for Henry, I’d agree! It seems our Jared is getting older by the hour (*whimpers*), but he’s adding just a touch more maturity to his performance, which is nice to see. :)
"The fact that in one episode Hook was able to convince Emma to take a leap of faith, to trust him and to believe in something that it took her the entire first season to believe in was not lost on me. I seriously can’t get enough of their dynamic and I love watching how their relationship has grown. On the beanstalk Emma wasn’t willing to take a chance on him and yet here he is, showing up for her again and again. He’s not here for any noble gains, he’s here for Emma and I love it, because Emma needs someone in her corner that’s there for just her."
"The swoon-worthy swashbuckler is heartbroken. He tried being a hero for Emma’s sake, but “it didn’t take.” Without Emma, heroism is pointless. He always has and always will be a pirate. David empathizes with Hook."
